The Professional Scrum with Kanban™ (PSK) 2-day course shows you how you can introduce complementary practices from Kanban while continuing the way they are already working with Scrum, all without changing Scrum.

Course Overview

Professional ScrumTM with Kanban (PSK) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Kanban practices to their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow as it pertains to the Scrum framework.

Scrum is the defacto standard for how Agile teams work.  Scrum exists only in its entirety and functions well as a container for other techniques and practices.  Scrum Teams keep improving how they work, based on what they learn by inspecting and adapting on an ongoing basis.

Professional ScrumTM with Kanban (PSK) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Kanban practices to their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow as it pertains to the Scrum framework.

  • Dispelling Common Myths – Bust several myths about Scrum that it doesn’t support flow
  • Understanding Professional Scrum – Scrum is just a framework that requires additional practices;Experience why Scrum can be improved with a better focus on flow
  • Kanban Theory, Principles and Practices – Understand the principals of flow; Discuss and understand the impact of Little’s Law; What does Professional Kanban look like
  • Kanban in Practice – Understand Kanban through practical participation;
  • Scrum with Kanban – How does Professional Kanban affect and enhance Professional Scrum; What are the additional practices and how might they be applied

Students will learn how their Scrum Teams can introduce complementary practices from Kanban while continuing the way they are already working with Scrum, all without changing Scrum. In this class, students will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of how flow works within the context of Scrum.
  • Be introduced to Kanban practices that Scrum Teams can adopt to help improve their effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Understand how to effectively use the appropriate Kanban practices without changing Scrum.
  • Learn a practical approach to improving transparency and visibility for their work.

The Professional Scrum with Kanban course is an advanced course designed for experienced Scrum Practitioners who have a good understanding of the Scrum framework. It is particularly beneficial for Scrum Masters.

Before you take this course you should have a solid understanding of Professional Scrum. 

All participants completing the Professional Scrum with Kanban course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum with Kanban I (PSK I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSK I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. PSK class participants who attempt the PSK I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

PMI PDU Credits

Students of Scrum.org courses are able to claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 14 PDUs after attending a two-day Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK) course. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for passing a Scrum.org assessment. Students can claim PDUs under PMI’s “Education courses provided by other third party providers” category.
