Being a professional Product Owner encompasses more than writing requirements or managing a Product Backlog. Product Owners need to have a concrete understanding of all product management aspects, including but not limited to product ownership, that drives value from their products.
Being a professional Product Owner is a key position that sets the tone for product leadership and the definition of success in the organization. As such, modern product management practices and mindsets are expected to be put into practice daily. The Product Owner is accountable for and has the authority to maximize the value of the product and the effectiveness of the Product Backlog.
Read Hiring a Professional Product Owner for a more complete list of the accountability required of a typical Product Owner role.
Our Professional Scrum Product Owner™ (PSPO) training experience uses a unique blend of self-paced learning, live classroom hands-on activity-based exercises, and community-based aftercare where students explore Professional Scrum and develop an understanding of the critical role that the Product Owner plays on the Scrum Team. Throughout the class and between sessions, students learn a number of Product Ownership practices that they can use once they leave the classroom while also receiving an introduction to Agile Product Management. After the class, they get to connect with peers and thought leaders to empirically and incrementally develop their skills in Agile Product Management.
Each session includes WARMUP activities to be completed before the session and WRAPUP activities to be completed after each session. Before, during, and after the class students can interact with other students and thought leaders in our Lean-Agile Community.
The course also includes a complimentary attempt at the globally recognized Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) certification exam.

This course is appropriate for students in any industry where teams are working to solve complex problems. The Professional Scrum Product Owner course is for:
While this course covers an introduction to the Scrum framework, it’s primarily from the perspective of the Product Owner. Therefore, it’s best if the students come to the course with an understanding of the fundamentals of Scrum, ideally as demonstrated by passing the Scrum Open.
All participants completing the Professional Scrum Product Owner course receive a password to take the Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSPO I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. PSPO class participants who attempt the PSPO I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a second attempt at no additional cost. You are also entitled to a discount on the PSPO II assessment once passing PSPO I.
Students of Scrum.org courses are able to claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 14 PDUs after attending a two-day Professional Scrum Master (PSPO) course. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for passing a Scrum.org assessment. Students can claim PDUs under PMI’s “Education courses provided by other third-party providers” category. You can claim your PDUs online at https://ccrs.pmi.org. Find instructions here.
