The Scaled Professional Scrum is a hands-on, activity-based course where students develop a collection of skills that can be applied to overcome challenges when scaling Scrum. Even after achieving success with Scrum, teams are still limited by the amount of work they can do and the value they can create. They need to expand, or scale, to a group of Scrum Teams working together on the same product. When doing so, they often encounter common challenges with cross-team dependencies, self-management, transparency and accountability.
When introducing heavy-weight scaling methodologies, teams often find that the added overhead slows down the teams and distracts from the essence and benefits of Scrum. Instead, the Nexus Framework minimally extended the Scrum Framework to include ways that help solve the dependency and collaboration challenges of cross-team work. Since Nexus enhances the foundational elements of Scrum, it reinforces the benefits of Scrum while also being familiar to those that have used Scrum.
The Scaled Professional Scrum™ (SPS) with Nexus course, builds on the Nexus framework by introducing complementary practices and techniques proven to help teams scale. The course also includes a free attempt at the globally recognised Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) certification exam.
Our training is delivered as an interactive, activity-based course over half-day sessions using Microsoft Teams, and Mural. Students work together in a Nexus to organise and simulate a scaled product development project. This case study-based class presents common challenges in scaling and more than fifty practices for overcoming them are revealed. Students will develop an understanding of how to launch, structure, organise, and manage a large Agile project using Scrum. They will leave the class with a toolbox of techniques for identifying and overcoming common scaling challenges. Between sessions, we provide additional reading, writing, and watching activities to maximise the learning opportunities and complement the classroom experience.
After the conclusion of the class, we provide access to a community of peers and continued access to the trainer through office hours, quarterly catchups, and constant engagement. To maximise validated learning, all students are given a password to take the SPS assessment, and if they take it within 14 days and are unsuccessful, they will be granted a second attempt. As part of our validated learning experience, we provide a 30-minute learning review, a 1h coaching session, and access to future courses at a 30% discount on future classes.
SPS is targeted at development leads and managers and anyone else involved in formulating, participating or managing scaled Scrum product development. Organizations are encouraged to send a team of people that will be (or already are) running large Scrum initiatives. It is especially oriented to those who:

All participants completing the Scaled Professional Scrum course will receive a password to attempt the Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) assessment. SPS class participants who attempt the SPS assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.. The industry-recognized SPS certification requires a minimum passing score of 85% and involves understanding of the Nexus Framework, knowledge from the course and of Scrum.
Students of Scrum.org courses are able to claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 14 PDUs after attending a two-day Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) course. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for passing a Scrum.org assessment. Students can claim PDUs under PMI’s “Education courses provided by other third party providers” category. You can claim your PDUs online at https://ccrs.pmi.org. Find instructions here.
All our courses are centred around valuable learning outcomes achieved through experiential learning within a classroom environment. They are most often delivered as intense 2-day experiences.
The Immersion Program is an alternative format that extends the learning experience beyond the classroom by allowing students to apply what they have learned to real-world settings. This format is enhanced by incorporating retrospectives for improvement, making the learning experience highly effective and practical.
An Immersion Program is a method of learning where students are actively engaged in the material and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts over an extended period of time.
The application of learning during an Immersion Program is core to the concept. Participants should have the opportunity to work with a real team on a real product during participation in the program. If you do not have this opportunity while participating in the program, you can either find a partner to pair with, or you should consider attending a traditional class.
Immersion Programs are an extension to our existing course offerings, not a replacement. We believe that learners have preferences and unique situations, to which we intend to offer greater variety in course delivery methods to meet these needs. The below characteristics of learners are generalized and intended to help guide you towards the learning method you think might suit you best.

Learners who register for a traditional Scrum.org course:
Flipped learning is an alternative format that moves some or all of the learning of theory away from the classroom, and reflecting and practising is done in the class (hence the name "Flipped Learning").

Over the 2 days, students will simulate a large product development project using the Nexus Framework. The workshop is delivered using an end-to-end case study where students work together to organize and simulate a scaled product development project. Throughout the workshop, students will be introduced to more than 50 practices (find many of the practices here) that can be used to help reduce complexity and dependencies at scale. The workshop will provide students with an understanding of how to launch, structure, staff, and manage a large Agile project using Scrum. Throughout the workshop, students will learn the infrastructure, tools and practices needed to successfully scale Scrum to maximize the value of their product development initiative. By taking a hands-on approach, students are fully engaged in the learning process where they see first-hand the challenges in large-scale development initiatives and solutions for getting the work back on track. They will leave the workshop with techniques to detect irregularities and how to address them appropriately. View the different Focus Areas covered within this class and others.

We have deep knowledge of the agile mindset and lean thinking that we blend with our experience in working with others. We know that the organisational context as well as relationships between teams can add significant constraints on reaching outcomes. Evidence-based decision making will help target changes where they are needed most. We want to help you create an environment or learning and collaboration that will make your organisation your journey a success.
